Our Team

Des Jones is a Murrawarri man born in Brewarrina NSW, living in Wentworth. Des holds Chairperson positions for the Murdi Paaki Regional Assembly and the NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Regional Alliances.

Across both roles Des has been committed to strong leadership in economic development for community, utilising his vast experience and extensive networks in government and industry forming relationships and agreements to provide positive outcomes for First Nations peoples .

Des is looking forward to growing the Gear platform, expanding business networks and continuing to prioritise economic development opportunities through employment and business growth for his community.

Sam Rawlinson is a Dharawal man. Sam has established a strong reputation as a machine technician sharing his current role as a workshop supervisor and shareholder for Gear.

He was awarded the NEC Norman Catts Trust Scholarship in 2007/8/9 and the Skillset Indigenous Apprentice of the year in 2015. In 2018 he was nominated as a finalist for the NSW CCF Indigenous Worker of the year.

Growing up in Coonabarabran Sam has always wanted to be a role model to his peers and show through hard work and dedication you can establish a career path and break cycles affecting youth in the regional areas.

He looks forward to developing his sales and business skills with his role in Gear as the equipment specialist.

Shareholder & Managing Director – George Rikiti is a Ngati Pikiao man from Rotorua NZ. He has over 25 years’ experience in the banking and finance industry having worked with Westpac, NAB and GE Commercial as an equipment and structured finance specialist.

He has demonstrated experience and expertise in construction, transport, materials handling, crane and hire having originated and settled deals up to $20M. George has been working for Gear since 2016 and is passionate about bringing more Indigenous and Polynesian people into the finance industry. He is currently working on a program in Western Sydney with Polynesian kids linking them to better career options. His goal is to extend this into the Gear platform to assist indigenous people and businesses.

Brock Hunter Hebberman, is a Peramangk Nation descendant of the Meraldi Clan.

Brock has been in the mining and construction industry since 2007 and has run his own business HGH Developments since 2012. He was the Supply Nation “Young Indigenous Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2017 and is passionate about providing more opportunities for his mob to pursue a career in construction including running businesses of their own.

Brock will utilise his construction expertise and experience to explore equipment hire and sales opportunities and continue with developing our ongoing employment and training programs.

Ian Coleman has over 35 years experience in the construction, sales and hire industry.

Ian brings with him a strong reputation and support structure that comes with being part of the largest privately owned compaction business in Australia, Conplant. Ian is an innovator and was an early adaptor and strong advocate to support the Gear platform to become a pioneering equipment specialist with a “profit for purpose” foundation.

Jeff has over 14 years experience in corporate advisory and private equity firms. He also has vast experience in asset management and asset finance through several key management roles.

He has held senior management roles with several large multinationals including CEO of FleetAustralia.

Jeff provides key input in to deal structuring and large finance facilities for our larger clients.

Paul is involved in the daily management of GEAR and our ongoing commercial operations whilst continuing to guide the acquisition and marketing strategy.

Paul has over 15 years experience in the asset finance and equipment rental industry where he has held several senior executive roles within equipment finance and fleet management companies.

Prior to GEAR, Paul has been active in various corporate advisory and principal investment roles including being a founder shareholder and executive in one of the largest fleet management companies in Australia, SG Fleet.

His diverse asset finance and corporate advisory background has provided him with industry wide knowledge from acquisition, through lifecycle management to asset disposal.
